In episode 309 of The Just Checking In Podcast we checked in with Georgie J.
Georgie is a marketing professional, describing herself as a ‘disruptive marketer’, and works in the men’s space, as well as with other brands in contentious topics who wish to work with her.
However, Georgie began her career in a very different space, as she completed her university degree in contour fashion, before completing her first internship in Amsterdam in the Netherlands and switching career path into social media.
She worked with a lot of feminist accounts and brands before, in her words, she began to move away from that political arena.
In this episode we discuss her professional journey, how her political views have changed and evolved over the last few years, and the impact that her partner and previous guest George from TheTinMen had on her in exposing her to a lot of issues men face. Some of these issues include domestic abuse, sexual abuse, family breakdown and fatherlessness.
For Georgie’s mental health journey, we discuss her upbringing and growing up in a household that in her words was ‘angry’, her diagnosis of ADHD and how, unlike many of her peers, her ADHD presented much more male-typical and the possible reasons behind that.
We also discuss her masculine traits more generally and how she balances her feminine and masculine traits and behaviours in harmony, the challenges girls like her face now in not being pigeonholed or stigmatised because of them, and using nature as a tool to benefit her mental health when she experiences Seasonal Affective mood changes.
As always, #itsokaytovent
