Policies & Values

Our values are:

  • Honesty
  • Transparency
  • Compassion
  • Inclusion
  • Empathy

Through these, our guidelines and processes on how we publish articles is given below:

We place every person who writes an article for us at the heart of what we do. We know that every person doesn’t always want the world to know the full extent of their mental health issues or is ready to take that leap.

However, we DO know that everyone deserves a voice. That’s why every Vent author will always be given the choice for their article or interview to be published anonymously or credited.

We understand that some mental health terms can be triggering for readers so we do our utmost to ensure the greatest care is taken to make our work honest, genuine but also respectful of others.

We are a conduit to help those living with mental health issues reach a stage of contentment and help them lead a full and meaningful life.

Once consent is given for a person’s content to be published, we cannot be held responsible for any repercussions both positive or negative brought about by its publication.

The views expressed by our contributors and champions are theirs and theirs alone. Our role is to discuss, champion or challenge the perspectives they share through the lens of mental health.

We are a place where everyone but especially men and boys can open up about their mental health issues. We are not exclusively FOR men and boys. We have always made that clear.

There are many brilliant platforms out there that give advice to people living with mental health issues, we are NOT one of them. We do not hold any professional qualifications.
